Sarah Gudgin, Padmini Broomfield and I have also trained in the Remembering Yesterday, Caring Today (RYCT) approach which works with people with dementia and their family carers to revisit key stages in their lives using creative arts-based approaches and supports their sense of identity and self-worth. We each reflected on the crossovers and distinct differences between our work as oral historians and facilitating reminiscence sessions for people with dementia and their carers.
The seminar highlighted the depth and potency of the RYCT work for all involved. It was developed by the European Reminiscence Network Director, Pam Schweitzer. For further information about the European Reminiscence Network and RYCT, click here.
