The Vagina Monologues, written by Eve Ensler, is based on numerous interviews with women from around the world about their vaginas. The ‘Vagina Interviews’ are a witty and moving collection of tales, and give voice to a chorus of lusty, outrageous, poignant, and brave stories.
The Vagina Monologues has been translated into over 48 languages and performed in over 140 countries.
Launched in 1998, by Eve Ensler and others, V-Day is a global non-profit movement that has raised over $75 million for women's anti-violence groups through benefits of The Vagina Monologues.
V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money, and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM), and sex slavery.
All profits from this Saturday’s event will go to Survivor’s network; a charity supporting female survivors of sexual abuse, and Threshold; a counselling service for women experiencing emotional distress and mental ill health.
